Roshini Abraham, Ph.D.

Dr. Roshini Abraham, Ph.D. is currently a professor of laboratory medicine and pathology at the Mayo College of Medicine as well as laboratory director of the clinical immunology laboratory at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She is board certified in laboratory immunology from the American Board of Medical Laboratory Immunology.

Dr. Abraham received her BSc in chemistry and biology at Jabalpur University, India and her MSc in microbiology from Bangalore University, India. She went on to receive her PhD in immunology from the National Institute of Immunology in New Delhi, India. She continued her studies in immunology by completing a postdoctoral fellowship in immunology as well as a clinical postdoctoral fellowship in clinical biochemistry and immunology at the Mayo Clinic. She joined the faculty at the Mayo College of Medicine with a focus on B cell clonal evolution and is now involved in teaching clinical immunology to graduate students, pathology residents, clinical chemistry fellows, and allied laboratory health staff.

Dr. Abraham’s interests include clinical immunology related to immunodeficiencies (primary and secondary), the laboratory diagnosis of primary immunodeficiencies, laboratory assessment of immune competence and function, as well as immune reconstitution in bone marrow/stem cell transplant. She has co-authored and authored over 25 peer-reviewed papers and 21 abstracts. Her published works span a wide range of subjects including newborn screening for severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID), novel infrastructure for research in critically ill neonates and children, as well as the relevance of antibody testing in patients with recurrent infections.

Dr. Abraham’s work in immunology research has significantly impacted research for severe combined immunodeficiencies (SCID) as well as newborn screening for SCID.
